Al Fahidi Fort
Built around the year 1799, the Al Fahidi Fort in Dubai is probably the oldest of all buildings in the city. This ancient structure was mainly erected to defend the city against any terrors or possibilities of invasion.
In 1993, the fort was beautifully restored and today, it stands as an iconic image of Dubai that offers an enthralling insight into Dubai’s rich culture and heritage. It houses the legendary Dubai Museum that showcases a collection of majestic artifacts that take tourists to the emirate’s colorful culture and history and wonderfully depicts the traditional Arab mosques, homes, desert life, fishing, trade, and pearl diving.
